THE 'DOC FORD' WEBSITE
If you haven't discovered this great mystery series yet, you're in for a treat.
We recommend starting with the first book in the series, SANIBEL FLATS,
which was chosen for The 100 Favorite Mysteries of the Century by
The Independent Mystery Booksellers Association.
We discovered the author, Randy Wayne White, several years ago,
and ever since, we've read each book in the series, plus some, and
we have eagerly awaited the release of new books in the series.
We hope you enjoy reading these books as much as we have.
CUT THROAT CLAMS
In 2004 we purchased them on Estero Island,
at the open air market under the Sky Bridge,
on Friday mornings during the peak season.
I don't know if they still do that now, so check.
What we purchased, we really enjoyed.
We've enjoyed them several times.
And I Iike their T-shirts, too.
CABBAGE KEY INN
I've read about, and been attracted to this place for a long time.
It sounds like one of those special, magical places to escape to.
TARPON LODGE on PINE ISLAND
Although I'm not personally familiar with Tarpon Lodge,
I linked it here because it's linked to the 'Doc Ford' website,
and it's also the sister resort of the Cabbage Key Inn.
[ It's linked to some interesting area websites, too.]

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
THE 'TIMES SQUARE' AREA
AND THE NORTH END OF
ESTERO ISLAND
Times Square April 4, 2005
Looking Toward the Pier and Beach
Fort Myers Beach is located on both Estero, and San Carlos Islands.
Estero Island is about 7 miles long. The sun sets over Sanibel Island.
The center of activity is where the sky bridge comes over onto the island.
This area is called 'Times Square'. The public fishing pier is located here.
Times Square has a central area of colorful, tiled, pedestrian-only 'streets'.
and is planted with many lovely, shady, coconut palms. This is an area of
shops, ice cream parlors and restaurants. Many eateries have their tables
spread out in front of their establishments, along the palm-lined walkways.
There's often live 'on-the-street' entertainment, planned and impromptu.
To the north of Times Square is a county park, with beach and bathhouse.
Estero Island extends northward for about one half mile from Times Square.
This is a residential area, with condominiums on the Gulf, and houses bayside.
At the north tip of the island is Bowditch Park, with beach and 17 acres of land.
At night it's been safe to walk the beach. And, it's quiet and relaxing for sleeping...
...just the sound of the surf washing onto the beach below your bedroom window.
From Fort Myers Beach, it's just a 20 minute drive to Sanibel Island.
Sanibel is a much larger island. It's different, and is well worth exploring,
as is Captiva Island, to the north of Sanibel, accessible by road via Sanibel.
The heart of NAPLES is a 45 minute drive south from Fort Myers Beach.
Downtown FORT MYERS is just a 20 minute drive east, and the
SOUTHWEST REGIONAL AIRPORT is a 30 minute drive.
